Why disability insurance?

Because your clients need it. Because it’s our goal to support you with a full range of leading insurance solutions. Because we care about your clients and your relationship with them. This is important for all clients, including millennials. Listen as Pat, Rena, and Ian give you insights into why that’s the case.

Only 40% of U.S. households have enough liquid savings to cover three months of living expenses, and only 28% have enough to cover six months of expenses. ¹

Of today’s 22-year-olds, one in four can expect to be out of work for at least a year with a disabling condition over the course of their career. ²

Each year, approximately 5% of working Americans experience a short-term disability (six months or less) due to illness, injury or pregnancy. Almost all of these disabilities are non-occupational. ³

From 2009 to 2018, only 32% of Social Security Disability Insurance (SSD) claims were approved. 21% of those were approved at the initial application stage, while the remaining claims went through a lengthy appeals process before being approved. ⁴

The average SSDI benefit for a disabled worker is $1,279 per month. That equals $15,348 per year, which is below the poverty line of $17,420 for a two-person household. ⁵
